Seen in Big Screen 12: Wrong Turn 3: Left For Dead

I really hope that this will be the last installment on the series. I got pissed off! It's been awhile since I got a dose of horror and suspense in my system. I desperately need some excitement and adrenalin rush but this movie makes me yawn and put me half-asleep.

I do expect a more from the third installment. Every trilogy got the best on the last sequel but not this one. Shocks! I was really disappointed!

I will cite some supporting details on how I felt pissed off and totally disappointed. There's no really a "wrong turn" on the plot.

Casts were intentionally pushed to the wrong direction. Gosh! How lame!

There's only one women on the main casts compare to a 5-7 men. How will you keep the balance of masculinity and feminine on the series? Of course, this is not a love story so I hope that even a gender balance on the plot is present.

The first scene is much better where teenagers are looking for an adventure in the woods then the story goes. The plot started inside a penitentiary! The highlights directs me to the old ex convict men. I'm expecting a more younger roles which was introduced by the first two prequels. I got surprised when I see myself following the story of these men! What's this? Prison Break?! Gosh!

The killings - Oh My God! I wasn't impressed! First of all, there were less than 10 cast. So meaning there are minimal possibility to see some killings. Wait, they're holding guns! Oh C'mon! I've seen too many killings on different movies using guns. I'm hoping not to see the like on this since the main setting is woods and guns seems to be the last item on the killing list. Well since they manage to insert it, great job! The best killings I saw on the movie was the one tied by bard wires - very tight, from head to foot.

I wasn't impressed. Sorry for all the inappropriate words I used and some exaggerated expressions. It's just that it didn't met the expectation from the previous one. Have you seen this movie? Let me know if you got the same feeling or it's just me.

Seen in Big Screen 11: G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra

G.I. Joe is a futuristic action-pack film. The movie is an adaptation of the 1985 TV series for kids. I wasn't even in my mother's womb on those days! Lolz!

As technology gets older, movie quality gets better. I can't compare this to the former one since I wasn't able to watch it and one more thing, it's cartoons! Of course, the movie and the fact that real humans portrayed the role was really impressed me.

May I just point the strengths and best highlights of the movie. Since the movie time setting is a not too distant future, their weapons, suits and transportation were advanced. Few things I've noticed where the accelerator suit, the nanomites, the invisibility cloak, the voice command jet and many more. Another thing I've noticed is the location of G.I. Joe and the cobra. G.I. Joe based under the dessert while the Cobra established their based underwater or ice in the northern. Interesting huh?

I really can't get enough of the chase scene where Duke and Rip Cord, equipped with the accelerator suits, chased the Cobra before they can use the destructive weapon they posses. Awesome slow motions and explosives makes me "WOW!". The accelerator suit accelerates every moves from walking to high jumping. It is also equipped with mini guns and explosives which can easily trigger on the buttons on the arm. It's cost a million... each! If it will accelerate even the brain processing, its definitely worth it! Lolz!

Seen in Big Screen 10: District 9

District 9 is another movie that stars aliens. Compare to Aliens vs. Predators, War of the Worlds and The Mist, this movie is a total opposite. The aliens were overcome by humans and aliens seems to be harmless. This is a new twist to the usual context that the aliens are here to conquer and invade Earth. It's a must-see!

The movie doesn't have much action, drama or comedy. I don't know what genre it will fall (you can tell me on the comments below). All I can say it has all but of equal percentage just enough to keep me tune-in.

I was not surprised with the ending. It's quite predictable. I'm also looking into the possibility of the sequel. So that the predictability will be erase and replaced by surprises.

What amaze me is the movie is like a documentary. The camera is following the center cast that is working as a *toot* (no spoilers). That doesn't hinder me to fully understanding the movie. The delivery is informative.

The funny thing I just notice is that the awareness of humans to the existence of the aliens in their planet. Posters and reminders are being posted all over the city to inform the aliens that the place are for humans ONLY. The really hilarious is that aliens can read and understand human language. Same way with humans that can understand alien language though the only sound that comes from their mouth is like a squeaking rubbers. Lol! It is fun really. I enjoy watching it even I had to read the subtitles when the aliens are speaking. Good thing the copy I got has one! Lol!

I imagine the world with the same situation like it. And I think I may never survive a day with it. But I will definitely laugh out loud if there are posters like the one on the right! Lol!

Seen in Big Screen 9: Ghosts of Girlfriends Past

I got this DVD stuck in my closet for a month now. I never got the chance to watch it since I'm experiencing technical difficulties uploading it into my PSP. Now I finally got a chance to watch it using a DVD player. I was advise by the doctor to have a 2-3 days bed rest to get me into shape again. So sad I had to take a 1-day sick leave off the office to get myself on the track again.

Anyways, the movie stars the Alias superstar Jennifer Garner and Matthew McConaughey. This is the first time I've seen the two match-up on the big screen. This is about Connor Mead(McConaughey) who always do what he do best... in bed and Jenny Perotti (Garner) who's the childhood sweetheart of the guy. Connor was visited by ghosts representing his past, present and future girlfriends reminding her of what he did to Jenny in the past. I won't go into details!

I've always been a fan of Jennifer Garner since Alias days to Daredevil to Elektra. She's really a gorgeous and strong woman. And she never failed to show it in every movie she has. She's really simple and beautiful on this movies wedding scene where she wore a very elegant wedding dress and a perfect hair fix that highlighted her face. I will never forget the (first) time I saw her walk on the aisle as a bride in the big screen. If this is not the first then I may have missed a movie of hers.

As for Matthew, I don't have any bad impressions on him. Actually, I've seen him since Sahara (with Penelope Cruz) and How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days (with Kate Hudson). He's not the ideal leading man for Jennifer but he's on the list of compatible leading men or shall I say the universal leading men. He was able to stretch his capabilities and acting skills to match with the roles he's into. Like being a photographer on this movie. Look how he holds the camera. Qualified to being a professional photographer. By the way, he really is a photographer in this movie. One more look at the camera and he's holding a Nikon D2XS Digital SLR! Wooh! how I wish to have one of that!

I'm so happy and thankful to finished all my unwatched DVD's during my very short vacation. I was able to appreciate the movie and able to wrote longer reviews. Lol!

Seen in Big Screen 8: Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs

Two thumbs up plus standing ovation!

Kiddie movies were never been this good and hilarious! For the third time, I almost fell out my seat laughing out loud watching the movie.

The whole cast is back for another icy and funny adventure together with the not-so-extinct dinosaurs. The folks have to save Sid who was abducted by a giant dinosaurs for keeping its eggs and raising them as their own. Following the trails of the dinosaurs, the rest of the gang was led to an underground tunnel leading to the hidden world of the dinosaurs. And that's where the story started.

Ice Age series are one of the best kiddie and funny movies I've been waiting on the big screen and DVDs. It was always the funny punchlines and mushy scenes that completes the entertainment in watching the movie. Even my father was hooked to the series and is repeating the movies for quite sometime now. It was a stress reliever and make me feel younger one year younger for every laugh I made. Hehehehe!

What really makes me hooked and addicted to this movie was the trailer I saw on TV ads. Scratte who is the main attraction on every trailer is really funny. I never heard any dialogue from him on the three movies, but still he can make me laugh out loud using his facial expressions and body language. In this movie he found a love team that can be match to him. At first it was just a simple battle to the one and only acorn but the love will be develop along the way. In the end of the movie, there's a catch between the two and the acorn. I won't go further into details and I suggest to watch the movie.

As I watch the movie, I feel like I've been traveling years back to when I was a kid who enjoys Tom and Jerry. It's just a two hour of my life where I smile feeling like I'm in a different world, world of mine. But still I need to go back to the real world, holding that two-hour-memory of youth.

Seen in Big Screen 7: 17 Again

17 Again is a romantic-comedy movie. The story is somehow resembles the movie 13 Going on 30 that stars Jennifer Garner. The difference is that in 17 Again the main cast become younger (17 to be exact) while 13 Going on 30 is the exact opposite - the main cast become older (30 years old to be exact).

Zac Efron is back for another high school movie. This time he's not that young. He was turned young by his "guide" to a hot high school varsity again to fix some things that occurs from his past - his family. His marriage is at stake for his wife filed a divorce against him and he missed the growth of his children.

Zac never failed to perform any teenage roles specially the varsity type. I'm starting to think that he really born to do it. But what if he grow up to be a man, he may never perform the same roles flawlessly as he did. I just hope that he will start being verstile, flexible and explore the other roles that he can be capable of. And by the way, he is really good at basketball! I was under the impression that in his former teen movie, High School Musical, he undergone some rehearsals practicing the basketball scenes. I just realized in this movie that the skill was really into him and not by chance, rehearsed for the movies' sake.

It's hard when you regret doing from the past that made a very big difference in the future. How I wish many time that if I have a chance, I will put things right. As they say, "You're stupid when you're young", and that explains my I made some stupid decisions before. I never regret taking the risks, I've learned so much from it. I may have the frustrations as the main cast but the difference is that he had a chance to fix things. If I can get the same opportunity as he did, I will never take it. I don't wanna regret changing things as they were even if its for the better. I'm happy that I got dragged to the place and situation I am right now. Everything's happen for a reason and change is good... embrace it!

Seen in Big Screen 6: Friday the 13th

Jason Voorhees is back to for more heart-pounding screams and off the seat suspense. Yes, I experienced those, lol! The movie has a good opening. I just realize now why Friday the 13th is always associated with Jason. The day Jason starts killing was Friday the 13th and it's his birthday. Too bad that the month was not mentioned. Very nice trivia, huh!

Suspense/Thriller and Horror are my favorite movie genre. I don't know why my mentality is like that. My heart pounds while watching - maybe that's the reason why it keeps me tuned in. By the way, when a movie makes me sleep or even yawn, I definitely didn't like the movie at all. On the other side, if it keeps me awake and tuned in, then I'll wait for the ending if I'll going to give it a good or bad impression, lol!

My mother looks at me differently for admiring and watching these kinds of movies. She said, "You really love watching horror movies. No wonder why you talked in your sleep after watching Final Destination.". I didn't saw it coming, hahaha!

I wasn't able to watched the original Friday the 13th. Some says that the this latest one is a remake. So to figure out how Jason became a killer machine, I watched the movie. The only movie I've seen starring him was Jason X (where the setting is in a futuristic satellite) and the ultimate Freddy vs. Jason (which is an ultimate showdown). Those are both worth watching.

This movie remake stars Jared Padalecki who is also a lead star in the suspense TV series Supernatural. He's got a spot for horror movies now, huh? The role he played in Supernatural (slaying supernatural creatures) has became his passport in getting the lead role in this movie. One thing I noticed from him is that he wore the same outfit in this movie and in the Supernatural series, lol!

Jason never failed me with the shocking scenes and surprising loud sounds. Some scenes put too much actions. What I noticed that improved from the last movies he had was the killing ways he had. He still got his favorite machete but he's now thinking. Without his machete, he look for what is available around him. Another thing I've noticed is that the way the cast killed is more realistic compared to the previous movies. Well, technology reaches almost everything. What can I say!? =]

Seen in Big Screen 5: Knowing

Knowing is another-end-of-the-world movie. Compare to the other movies with the same concept like The Day After Tomorrow and The Day the Earth Stood Still, this one is very different. The drama was a bit exciting with a taste of suspense. There's always the mystery part in every film that Nicolas Cage is carrying with him.

The story revolves around the College instructor who decrypt a series of numbers on a piece of paper. The paper was buried underground for 50 years. The codes he decrypted is telling the date, coordinates where it will happen and the number of casualty killed to that disaster. These disasters were happened in the last 50 years. What's more interesting is the codes are telling a disaster that isn't happening yet. That's the plot of the movie.

I may not be as smart and bright as you think, but I really love mystery movies and series even though I'm having a hard time absorbing it. It really helps my comprehension, memory and reasoning improves. In that way, when I resolve the mystery all by myself even without revealing it in the movie, I feel so smart and brilliant! After that, I give the movie a good review. A good example in the movie is the series of code John Koestler (Cage) acquired from his child. Though the intention is not really to get the audience think on how to decrypt the codes, it was revealed earlier in the movie. I really got impress the way John resolved it. People like him is very rare. I really like the way it was presented in the movie. If it wasn't Nicolas Cage who portrayed the role, the movie won't passed my standards, lolz!

Seen in Big Screen 4: Night at the Museum 2

Being in the museum was one of my childhood memories adulthood erased. I remember I’ve been to one of the local museum but I can’t remember any details of where, when and what’s in that museum. Watching Night at the Museum 1 and 2 brings back my childhood.

Promotion is wide and production is high. No wonder why it clicked on the second time. The special effects attract a large number of audiences. The expectation of a better movie than the previous one was once again exceeded.

Ben Stiller never failed to make me laugh. From Meet the Parents to Duplex and up to the latest, I watched all of it. He is really a man of comedy.

Though I wasn’t able to recall the memory that was once lost or hidden somewhere in my brain, watching this movie was able to replace it with a new one, a better one. I feel like I was in a museum as I watch the movie. The very detailed clone of the real world as figures of history is shown in the movie. From the pre-historic cave mans to the latest technology we have, name it, they got it!

Addition to the main cast is Amelia Earhart (Amy Adams) who I learned on the movie was the first man (woman) to fly solo across Atlantic Ocean. Now I’m learning! The Night at the Museum was somehow substantial for general knowledge just like what you acquire when you visit a museum.

Making me wow is one of the criteria I can say that a movie is fantastic! Well what can I say… I’ll give it a Two Thumbs Up! =]

Seen in Big Screen 3: Disturbia

Disturbia is a suspense thriller movie. It’s a story of a boy who suspects his neighbor of committing a murder. He accidentally saw the car that according to the news is the car of the murder. Since he’s in a house arrest, most of his time was to look over his window a watch every move of his neighbor. I will stop at this point and I don’t want to spoil the movie. You should see it for yourself if you haven’t.

I’m really a fan of horror-suspense-thriller movies. From the classic Nightmare in Elm Street up to the latest Saw Series, I’m really updated. What I get from the watching these kinds of shows is the eagerness to finish the show despite of the screams and struggles which I normally don’t experience. If I watch a drama movie late at night, next thing I know I’m dreaming while If I watch a suspense-thriller movie, it will keep me awake all through out the duration of the movie even after.

What I have learned from Disturbia is to stand up for what you believe and what you fight for. Enough courage to stand up is also a requirement even if nobody believes in you. At the end of the day, it was you who made the difference.

Seen in Big Screen 2: Twilight

It’s been five months since it was last shown on the big screen, but this is the only time I have watched it in private – which I prefer rather than in the crowded and dark movie house. No doubt that even I got hooked the first time it was endorsed and advertise over the TV and by countless mouths. My initial plan was to read the whole series (while waiting for the movie to be release in DVD) which I decided to read just the first book. I have the 4 books in an eBook but due to my laziness and reading was not really me, I quitted reading the chapters. Though I have spare times at work to read it but the inner me says, “Stupid! You can’t finish this book!”. I even ask my officemate to provide me copies of audio book so that I can listen to it every now and then without getting my eyes fried over the monitor radiation. But then guess what, I didn’t finish it either! I didn’t even last for an hour because it made me fell asleep faster. Hahahaha!

So much for the reading and listening part. The book was great. No doubt why it sold millions of copies and counting and was soon adapted to movie.

The concept was a Harry Potter-like which aims to target a larger audience – not literary large, knowing me. I‘ve never been a fan of a vampire movie - I don’t even watched Adams family (for Heaven’s Sake) – just now. Watching the video was so entertaining. I never found any of the scenes boring because every scene has a unique impact. It made me watch it thoroughly. If I can, I can watch it without blinking an eye!

I read almost half of the first book. Therefore I will have an (50%) idea how it was differs from the movie. 3 weeks consume me reading the chapter while it consume several minutes on the movie. My God! Every chapter is quite wordy and outside my English vocabulary – well given the fact that I’m not English speaking citizen. The movie runs for 2 hours which in my estimation is too short to be complete. Stepenie Mayer did a great job on writing the book as well in extending it to series. I cannot review this by the book since I’m not a bookworm. Most of my credits will go the movie. What more can I say? I’m a couch potato! Hahahaha!

To evaluate both the book and the movie, it was quite interesting and highly recommended. I’m looking forward on a more interesting, heart-warming, breathe-taking, mouth-watering and exiting sequel.

Seen in Big Screen 1: Kung Fu Panda

I've been dying to see the movie since the first time I laid eyes on the poster. It was March I think when I saw the movie poster while passing down the huge mall spaces. The title already suggested that it will be a Comedy/Action/Animation film. That's all in the poster.

What makes Action is the term "Kung Fu", obviously, i don't have to elaborate on that. What makes it look like Animation is the "Dreamworks Picture" which is I'm not fan of , really. Im a fan of Pixar! It did a great job that it made me watch the movie. And lastly, what makes it Comedy is the image of Panda posing in a Kung Fu. Hahahaha! That's the whole package!

It is a story of a big fan Panda. He is a big fan of Kung Fu. And he's not just a big fan, he is also literary big. I don't wanna have a story-telling here. But it was really funny. It never let my eyes take off the screen, waiting for a more actions. What's more funny is that the actions scene of a Panda and his master (i don't know if he's a Hamster or a rat) fighting for a piece of bun. Another question that leave unanswered is that his father. He's father is a Goose and he a Panda! Hahahaha! So ironic!

Well, I guess you should see the movie. If you already seen it, good. For those who haven't, go to the pirata nearest to you.
